The Tradition Continues…

Last year we started a tradition of cutting our own Christmas tree.   We had so much fun that I could hardly wait for this year’s hunt for the perfect tree.

Just like last year we hiked across three fields to get to the Fraser Furs, which I had my heart set on.  They are soft and look so beautiful, plus they smell amazing.  It took us a long time to find our tree – the first one was too small, the next one too skinny, the next one not symmetrical enough.  Finally we both agreed upon a rotund, tear-drop shaped tree.  It looked perfect!  Once in our living room, though it appeared to be about three times bigger than it did in the field!  Funny how that happens – must remember that for next year.  We made it work and now we are sitting on the couch enjoying its golden glow!

“Hunt” would be an appropriate word – as in Sandy’s comment….especially with the picture of Ben standing over his conquered beast – well, in this case, tree… Your pictures capture the mood and it must have been so much fun. Romeo and Juice must think they’re outside – it’s so big! But indeed gorgeous and I’m sure you’ll spend many dreamy evenings just enjoying its beauty.

You look like your flirting with it. Which then makes Ben’s pose with it and the saw even funnier.
Viewed that way, it’s like a really barbaric “other man” movie.

Frame 1- the tree. Lovely, bright, green.
Frame 2- the Husband. Cigar smoking.
Frame 3- the affair. the wife looks up and a “tee hee” escapes her before she realizes-
Frame 4- the conquest. The tree had no chance. It was so bright, so green.
Frame 5- the disposal of the body. The Husband seems to have experience with this kind of thing. Is he in the mob?
Frame 6- WHAT KIND OF MOVIE IS THIS??? people leave the theaters in droves when the well crafted suspense drama turns into an all out horror movie as the happy couple displays the tree, adorned with lights and decorations, IN THEIR LIVING ROOM.

it’s so pretty, by the way.

    I love your mind.

Notice the gloved hand on the saw. No traces left at the scene…

In Florida, where I am now, the Christmas trees are trucked in from “up north”, which I think is probably Georgia or South Carolina since they don’t grow down here. And once they are unloaded (by illegal Cubans or Bolivians) they have to compete for attention with the palm and coconut trees. The Christmas Trees are sold at the supermarkets by teenagers in tee shirts, shorts and sandals. I haven’t seen any wreaths or garland for sale. It’s not quite the same mood, but the evergreen fragrance is the just the same and probably carries further in the warm breeze.
