Our Crazy Cats

camera-038Our cats provide endless hours of antics and laughter in our lives.  We have more outrageous stories about their behavior than we know what to do with.  Sometimes the antics outweigh the laughter, like when Romeo drop kicks us from window ledge above our bed to wake us up in the morning (to feed him).  He actually jumps on top of our bodies like we’re the ones in the way.  But sometimes the laughter outweighs the antics, like when he starts panting in the yard like a dog after chasing Orange around.  Just couldn’t keep up.

camera-042Cats naturally lend themselves so very well to human comedic interpretation (see lolcats) and ours seem to be ever outdoing themselves.  Orange actually has facial expressions that he employs rather articulately.  When I get home from work there’s the frantic, hopeful “Oh my gosh, feed us, I thought we were going to starve!” face.   When he comes back in the house from being outside there’s the wide-eyed, whiskers forward, ears pricked, “I came in, where’s my treat!?”  Then there’s the one he gives when we’ve packed the suitcases in the car for a weekend trip.  After dragging him out from under the bed and assuring him he doesn’t have to ride in the car, he still maintains a cold stony glare.  Eyebrows forward, eyelids slimmed down into slits as he sits frozen on the chair and turns his back to me.  But I can always count on the soft, contented gaze when it’s bedtime and he’s lying next to me while I tell him what a good kitty he is to me.  He actually looks in my eyes and nods his head toward me like he’s agreeing.  “You’re not so bad for a human.”
